Help D-SNP members access SSBCI benefits
As a reminder, UnitedHealthcare offers Dual Special Needs Plan members supplemental and non-medical benefits – like healthy food – through Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI).
Most members who were with UnitedHealthcare in 2025 and continued in 2026, don't need to do anything—over 90% already have a verified condition and will receive benefits!
However, some members did not self-indicate their qualifying condition during enrollment and may be at risk of not having SSBCI benefits.
See which of your clients are pending verification
- Go to Book of Business and select “Filters”
- Select the drop down for “Member Status”
- Select the “SSBCI – Pending Verification” status and click “Apply Filter”
Note, many members have the yellow "SSBCI - Pending verification" member status in their Book of Business, which indicates they are either in process of being verified or have not self-indicated.
Members can watch this video to learn how to self-indicate on the mobile app. Good news: Members who self-indicate a qualifying condition will have 60 days of SSBCI benefits (starting when their plan becomes effective) while we finish the verification process.
