Training Touchpoint: Dual Enrollment module available in Spanish
The Dual Enrollment training module on Jarvis can help you learn what you need to do to assist members who are dually-enrolled in Medicaid and an Individual & Family plan, as well as how you can help your clients avoid this issue in the future. This training is now available in Spanish, as well as English.
If any of the members in your book of business have dual enrollment in both Medicaid (or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)) and an Individual & Family Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace plan, they will no longer be eligible for subsidies or tax credits used towards their Individual & Family plan and will need to pay full price for their Marketplace plan if they want to keep both types of coverage. Furthermore, failing to end Marketplace coverage when Medicaid coverage starts means they may have to pay back some or all of the premium tax credit owed when they file their federal taxes.
During the Open Enrollment Period (OEP), checking consumers’ Medicaid status before enrolling them in an Individual & Family plan is an important and necessary step you should take to help avoid dual enrollments.
To learn more, launch the Dual Enrollment training module by going to Jarvis > Knowledge Center > Training & Guides and launching IFP Training.
