Training Touchpoint: What to do if your clients are enrolled in IFP and Medicaid
If any of the members in your book of business have dual enrollment in both Medicaid (or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)) and an Individual & Family Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace plan, they will no longer be eligible for savings or tax credits used towards their Individual & Family plan and will need to pay full price for their Marketplace plan if they want to keep both types of coverage. Furthermore, failing to end Marketplace coverage when Medicaid coverage started means they may have to pay back some or all of the premium tax credit owed when they file their federal taxes.
To learn more about what you need to do to assist members who are dually-enrolled in Medicaid and Individual & Family Plans (IFP), as well as how you can help your clients avoid this issue in the future, complete the Dual Enrollment Training module on Jarvis. This includes being proactive by checking consumers’ Medicaid status before enrolling them in an Individual & Family plan.
Go to Jarvis > Knowledge Center > Training & Guides and launch IFP Training to get started.
