What to know about 2026 Medicare Advantage commission payments
As we begin the new year, we want to express our sincere appreciation for the critical role you played during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) in helping clients find plans that best fit their needs. We couldn’t deliver on our mission to help people live heathier lives without your support.
To help you stay informed and prepare for 2026, we've compiled what you need to know about UnitedHealthcare 2026 commission payments. Whether you're a seasoned agent or just starting out, this information will help you navigate the UnitedHealthcare commission structure with confidence.
AEP 2026 agent commission payments
- UnitedHealthcare processed agent-level commission payments for new enrollments for 2026 effectives on Jan. 1, 2026.
- Agent of Record (AOR) retention was applied immediately for qualified plan changes, and commissions associated with the new plan will continue without interruption if eligibility requirements have been met.
- For members who enrolled in a non-commissionable plan, you will continue to be the AOR consistent with Agent of Record retention rules but will not be paid a commission.
- UnitedHealthcare uses information released in a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) report in January to determine eligibility for initial or renewal rates. Your first commission payment associated with a 2026 effective enrollment will be processed at the applicable renewal rate. If the CMS report indicates a sale is New to Medicare, it is eligible for the applicable initial rate and an additional commission payment will process for the balance of the applicable initial rate in mid-January.
- To view monthly renewals, view the Commissions Calendar on Jarvis. The full calendar for 2026 will be posted early January.
- Reminders:
- Renewal rates are increased to pay the 2026 CMS maximum allowed for the majority of our plans. This includes all commissionable Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) and Chronic Special Needs Plan (C-SNP) types, for members effective 2020 and after.
- As detailed in your recent contract amendment, we will continue to pay the current (2025 renewal rates) renewal rate for non-SNP Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan types for existing UnitedHealthcare members effective for plan years 2020-2025.*
- Members effective prior to 2020 will continue to be paid at the renewal rate of the year enrollment became effective.**
- Agent level commissions for AEP were released Jan. 1. If you are not signed up for direct deposit, paper check payments will be issued annually.
- Once you update your payment method to direct deposit, your next commission payment will be processed following standard processing.
- To sign up for Direct Deposit, click your name in the upper right corner and click “Manage Account Info.” Scroll down and click “Enter Direct Deposit Info.” Then follow the steps given to enter your banking information through our secure portal.
AEP 2026 Upline commission payments
- Upline commissions were processed for each commission processing cycle during AEP and continued through December.
- True-up payments will be processed mid-January after CMS confirms New to Medicare eligibility.
- As outlined above, Agent of Record retention is applied immediately, and commissions associated with the new plan will continue without interruption for qualified plan changes.
