As we move through AEP, it's a good time to reinforce the importance of staying vigilant for phishing attempts. While awareness is especially important during the busy enrollment season, phishing can occur at any time of year.
 

Phishing scams use emails, texts, websites or QR codes that appear legitimate to trick you into sharing personal information or clicking malicious links. 
 

Protect yourself by following these best practices:

• Think before you click. Fraudulent emails and meeting invitations can appear legitimate and may be designed to gain access to devices or sensitive information. Avoid clicking links from someone you don't know, even if they seem like a legitimate sales opportunity and you've exchanged a few emails. As a best practice, schedule and send meeting invitations yourself rather than joining meetings created by unknown or unverified individuals and never approve a request to give access to your computer.
• Verify the sender. Check email addresses carefully and confirm requests through a trusted phone number or known contact when something seems unusual. 
• Watch for red flags. Urgent requests, emails sent at odd hours, spelling or grammar errors, and requests for sensitive information can be signs of a phishing attempt. 

A few extra moments to verify a message can help protect your information, your business and your clients.
